Position Summary

Under the direction of the Center Nurse Executive/Designee, the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) delivers efficient and effective nursing care while achieving positive clinical outcomes and patient and family satisfaction. The CNA performs patient care activities and related services essential to the personal needs and comfort of patients, functioning within the standards of practice of their certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care conducive to safety and comfort, including assisting with Activities of Daily Living (bathing, dressing, grooming).
• Obtain and record vital signs and weights per policy; record oral intake and output.
• Assist patients with ambulation, transfers, and correct body positioning; apply adaptive equipment as ordered.
• Assist the physician and licensed nurse with treatments and procedures as needed.
• Feed or assist patients with meals and provide additional nourishment and hydration per care plan.
• Participate in the care planning process and implement care according to the care plan.
• Maintain infection prevention and control practices per policy.
• Report changes in patient condition and any patient or family concerns to the charge nurse or supervisor.
• Maintain confidentiality and protect Protected Health Information (PHI) at all times.

Requirements

• Successful completion of a state-approved certified nursing assistant program with active CNA certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• TST (tuberculin skin test) verification as required by state law.
• Willing to work rotating shifts and different units.
